Scam from +923342788172 - $50,000 prize

Hi 

- an FYI to folks out there who are FIDO customers - got a call from +923342788172 from a person who spoke very bad English and who claimed I had won $50,000.  They knew nothing about me - only that my number was a Fido one...  

Just in case your plan does not cover you for receiving long-distance calls - just wanted folks to be aware...

I have also contacted the CRTC (per the help I received from Fido Chat)...

Thanks for the heads up  

Just wanted to add a little something: even if long distance is not included in your plan, you won't be charged long distance for receiving an international call as long as you are within your local calling area .

On the other hand, placing an international call would be charged. 

There's also the National Do Not Call List (DNCL) available to prevent unwanted telemarketing calls. More info here.
