How can I switch to the iPhone 4s

Currently I am in a contract that will end in february 2013, I renewed a contract just last year but the phone I upgraded with is the LG gossip. Its giving me a handful of problems, and I am beyond frustrated with it. In order for me to switch to the iPhone 4s would I have to buy out of my current contract and sign up with a new one? How much would it cost me to buy out of it?
