I got a modem from Fido today and tried to connect it a coax outlet in my room but it doesn't seem to work at all.
tried it using the one in the common area and it works fine.
is there a problem with the outlet in my room?
tried contacting the customer service which says 24/7 but wasn't able to get connected.

It's possible that the modem works better in different areas than others. At times, certain building infrastructures can cause issues with the modem and the way it provide the network around your house.
That said, there is also the possibility that the coax outlet in your room might need some work.
