Does jailbreaking an iPhone void the warranty?

A friend called Fido to ask about unlocking his phone. They declined because it was still under subsidy. The rep suggested that he search the internet and find instructions on jailbreaking and unlocking it himself. It seems to me that this would void his warranty. Is this correct?

Yes not only would it void your warranty, if you tried to update the firmware from itunes after you did this, you could potentially corrupt your phone or risk data corruption and your phone would be re-locked again if you restore it.

Hey!

I know this thread is old but I wanted to update the info on unlocking your device. You can unlock the phone if you received a subsidy as long as it's been 90 days since you purchased it. Smiley Click here to find out more on that!

Hope that helps!
