Sorry to hear it didn't work for you...My non-fido pixel 2 phone is still working using my method, and has been working now for 3 weeks. Even after turning my phone off and on a few times.

You will be charged $7 per phone number/sim card per day. So for 2 phones calling between each other in the USA, you will be charged $14 total per day.

Once a phone line is discontinued/deactivated, the SIM card becomes permanently non-operational. At this point, you would have to either order another SIM card or purchase one in store.
