Hey Community,

 

For the curious, here are the unlocking instructions for a variety of devices:

 

Android and Windows Devices

 

1.Turn off your phone.

2. Remove your Fido SIM card from your phone. 

3. Insert another carrier’s SIM card back into your phone.

4. Turn on your phone, and enter the unlock code when prompted

5. Some phones may require a reboot to complete the process.

 

 

BlackBerry (Bold, Curve, Pearl)

 

  1. Select "Options".
  2. Select "Device".
  3. Select "Advanced System Settings".
  4. Select "SIM Card".
  5. Press and hold the ALT key and type "MEPE" (What is typed [MEPE] will not show on the Blackberry screen).
  6. Enter the unlock code when it ask for MEP code and press the Enter button or Track pad.

 

BlackBerry 10 devices (Z10, Q10)

 

  1. Go to Settings from home Screen.
  2. Select Security and Privacy.
  3. Select Sim Card.
  4. Select Unlock Network.
  5. Enter MEP Code.

 

iPhone

 

  1. Turn off your iPhone.
  2. Remove your Fido SIM card from the iPhone. Eject the SIM tray by inserting the SIM tool that came with your iPhone into the tiny hole next to the tray.
  3. Insert another carrier's SIM card into the iPhone.
  4. Turn on the device, and complete the onscreen setup process. Apple iOS 9 and above will bypass the onscreen setup process.

 

Using an Active Fido SIM Card

 

STEPS:

 

  1.     Back up your iPhone through Apple iCloud on your device or Apple iTunes on your computer. 

o   iOS 9: Tap Settings iCloud Backup > Back Up Now.

o   iOS 10 or higher: Tap Settings > the iCloud account at the top of the settings > iCloud Backup Back Up Now

 

iTunes: Click File Devices Back Up.

 

  1.     Transfer your purchases to the computer.

iTunes: Click File Transfer Purchases from your device name.

 

  1.     Restore your iPhone using Apple iTunes or on your iPhone. 
  •        iTunes: Click Summary Restore iPhone > Restore.
  •        iPhone: Tap Settings General Reset Erase all Content and Settings. If asked, enter your passcode or Apple ID password, and then connect the iPhone to the computer and launch iTunes.

Note: You should be prompted with a message stating your iPhone is now unlocked.

 

  1.     Once the unlock process is complete, you can reload your contents of their iPhone from the back up file using iTunes.

iTunes: Click Summary Restore Backup.

Nokia (Microsoft) Windows phones

 

  1. Compose ##7820#
  2. Press Call to access the unlock screen.

 

Nokia (legacy devices) 

 

  1. Switch ON the Nokia phone without SIM Card.
  2. Compose #PW+CODE+7#

-> The letter P appears after pressing the star key ( * ) 3 times quickly.

-> The letter W appears after pressing the star key ( * ) 4 times quickly.

-> The letter + appears after pressing the star key ( * ) 2 times quickly.

  1. The phone will show SIM Restriction Off.

If that fails repeat the process, composing #PW+CODE+1# instead.

 

Nokia CS-18 Internet stick

 

  1. Insert foreign SIM in the CS-18 and connect to a PC using USB cable.
  2. In the connection manager, make sure all 4 green lights are "ON" at the bottom right corner.
  1. Click on the Setting icon at the right of the Menu Bar.
  2. Press CTRL+SHIFT+D.
  3. Enter the 8 digit unlock code and click OK.

 

ZTE

 

Mobile Hotspot (MF970, MF275R)

  1. Open a web browser on another device (PC, tablet, smartphone, etc.)
  2. Log into the admin webpage http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1.
    • Default password is admin.
  3. Insert a non-Rogers/Fido SIM card and Turn on the device.
  4. Enter Network Unlock code when prompted.

 

Wireless Home Phone

 

Connect a landline phone to the device and turn it on.
