FIDO LTE Bands Match

hello,

Ive been doing quite a bit of research and at this point Im still not sure about the following.

Will an international version of Nokia Lumia 920 will work with FIdo LTE?

The bands of the Nokia lumia thats being sold unlocked online are: LTE 800 / 1800 / 2600 / 900 / 2100

Do all of these bands have to match fido's lte bands? or 2100 is enough?

thank you

Hey everyone,

I think Cawtau's post Will my phone work on the Fido network might answer all your questions.

Cheers,

And thanks @Cawtau!

Only the T Mobile phone has one compatible LTE band B7(2600)

This is what you need for LTE

  • 700 MHz on Band 17;
  • 1700/2100 MHz on Band 4;
  • 2600 MHz on Band 7.

Re: FIDO LTE Bands Match

Hello Jagraj,

  Welcome to the community!

  Firstly, from the specifications you provide for the Sprint version of the Note 5, it appears as though there are two versions listed:

Frequency
A: GSM: GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900;
3G UMTS: B1(2100), B2(1900), B5(850), B8(900);
4G FDD LTE: B2(1900), B4(AWS), B5(850), B12(700), B25(1900), B26(800);
4G TDD LTE: B41(2500) B: 2G GSM: GSM850, GSM900, DCS1800, PCS1900;
3G UMTS: B1(2100), B2(1900), B5(850), B8(900);
3G CDMA: BC0(800), BC1(1900), BC10(800);
4G FDD LTE: B2(1900), B4(AWS), B5(850), B12(700), B25(1900), B26(800);
4G TDD LTE: B41(2500)
...

  Both phones (A and B) have all of the compatible bands/frequencies for 2G and '3G'.

  With regards to LTE, both phones would have at least one compatible band/frequency, band 4 (AWS - Advanced Wireless Services, 1700/2100 MHz). Band 12 (700 MHz) has been deployed in some provinces so it may be available to you depending on your location (see here). You can verify the compatible bands/frequencies here

  The T-Mobile phone would also have all of the compatible bands/frequencies for 2G and '3G'.

  With regards to LTE, this phone would have at least two compatible bands/frequencies, band 4 (AWS) and band 7 (2600 MHz). Again, the availability of band 12 would depend on your location.

  So, assuming both phones are unlocked, which phone will work best for LTE on Fido? SM-N920P or SM-N920T? Judging by the specifications you provided, the T-Mobile version of the phone would be the better option. Since coverage depends on the bands/frequencies of the surrounding towers, having the additional compatible band/frequency would increase the likelihood of coverage.

  That said, you might want to verify the specifications you provided for those phone versions. According to GSMArena, the SM-N920P (Sprint) would have *all of the compatible bands/frequencies for LTE. (*except for the recently added band 12). If true, then the Sprint version might be the better option for LTE on Fido.

Hope this helps Smiley

Cheers

Re: FIDO LTE Bands Match

Hello,

Is the KATA C3 unlocked cellphone supposed to work on the Fido network?

Device specifications: GSM Quadband 850/900/1800/1900, 3G WCDMA 850/1900/2100, Android 6.0

I am having a really hard time using this new phone on the Fido network. However it did work at some point for a period of 15 minutes where I was able to send and receive a message back from one of my contacts.

Please advise.

Hello Guex04,

  Welcome to the community!

  That phone has all of the compatible bands/frequencies for the 2G and '3G' networks. With regards to LTE, that phone does not have any LTE bands. You can verify the compatible bands/frequencies here.

  Have you verified that the phone is using the correct APN? Since the phone is not capable of LTE, it should be using Fido-core-appl1.apn. You can verify those settings here.

 Hope this helps Smiley

Cheers

There is also a known issue right now with VOLTE not sure if this is causing a LTE issue for them as well!
