It's absolutely appalling that Fido blocks standard features of Android phones to anyone who didn't buy it from them. Then they go on to lie about it.

This is a 100% lie. Pretending only a "fido" pixel can possibly work is insulting. It's a pure lie, and they know it.
My Google Pixel is the same as one bought from Fido. The only difference is Fido not being happy I'm a customer that brought my own phone.
It's things like this which make me start looking for another carrier.
I completely agree with you there's nothing worse than this practice!!
"Fido phones are optimized to work on our network" means ABSOLUTELY nothing. Nada.
My unlocked CANADIAN model phone with the Fido CSC is identical to a Fido-purchased phone. IMS services won't work though and they do purposely block them.
However RCS works fine on my phone using Google Messages. I don't think that's part of the services they block.

Thanks a lot for your patience ! I have checked and it seems we had a known issue at the time of the thread you are referring to but a fix has already been released for that. Sometimes it can simply be due to the system not recognizing your phone. I have added the details in our files to prevent that. I have also reset some of your network settings to try and solve that. Can you restart your phone and try again? If that doesn't work, can you also send me a screenshot of what happens when you try to activate? -Pamela
