It's absolutely appalling that Fido blocks standard features of Android phones to anyone who didn't buy it from them. Then they go on to lie about it.

This is a 100% lie. Pretending only a "fido" pixel can possibly work is insulting. It's a pure lie, and they know it.
My Google Pixel is the same as one bought from Fido. The only difference is Fido not being happy I'm a customer that brought my own phone.
It's things like this which make me start looking for another carrier.

"Fido phones are optimized to work on our network" means ABSOLUTELY nothing. Nada.
My unlocked CANADIAN model phone with the Fido CSC is identical to a Fido-purchased phone. IMS services won't work though and they do purposely block them.
However RCS works fine on my phone using Google Messages. I don't think that's part of the services they block.

finally fido/rogers have decided to allow the volte and wi-fi calling for their customer with byod???? they finally decided to stop punishing their own customer..... how much loyal customer they have lost?? they are just at least 3 years behind all other provider about this...after have spend many many hours with their customer service they just told me that it was their policy to block their customer who didn"t have their phones from them (rogers/fido)...have switched to another provider for this only reason last years...and will not comeback anytime soon just for this reason alone...however im happy for their customer who have now access to these feature like any other provider...when paying for a plan monthly its just normal to have all these feature...
