Kiddo goes away for a week tomorrow morning but I recently ported out to fredom then winbacked to fido.
I thought his Pixel3 was esim compatable but turns out its not for canadian devices.
I have an unused physical sim from a few years back and figured I could just activate the physical sim in my account onluine, but, it needs to send a text to the phone number that the esim doesnt work for.
I dont have any spare esim compatable devices, so looking for a same day solution (on a stat)

Unfortunately, I'm not sure whether you'll be able to find a solution before your child's trip tomorrow morning. As you note, the process to update SIM information requires verification prior to the change. If you are not able to receive the SMS verification notification, you would generally have to go to a store to verify your identity. That said, it has been possible to verify customers' identity over the phone under certain circumstances. While phone verification might not be as secure as having to provide photo identification at a store, it has been accepted under specific situations. You would likely need to contact their Validation team in order to do so, though. You would get directed to them after contacting customer service.
All that said, I'm not sure whether customer service or stores are open today given it's Canada Day. Depending on where you live, there may be local mall open with a Fido store also being open.
I understand you don't have any spare eSIM-compatible devices, however, do you have any friends or other relatives with eSIM devices? They wouldn't need to remove their existing eSIM, only install your eSIM to receive the verification SMS. I understand it would not be an ideal situation. Though, given your timeline, it might resolve your issue.

Thanks. Solved with the help of Walmart mobile, gave me a SIM and activated it in the fido account.
