I recently moved from Canada to India and need to cancel my post paid phone plan. I tried calling fido's abroad number which gave me an automated message and booked a scheduled call with a specialist. I did not recieve a callback at the given time, instead I recieved a voicemail with an automated message again which told me to press 1 for speaking to a specialist, press 2 for getting a callback in a few minutes and 3 for cancelling - I tried pressing 1 and 2 but the automated message kept on playing. I was eagerly waiting for a call from the specialist so that I could cancel my plan but did not recieve one. After this, I called their abroad number again and booked another appointment, but this time, I did not recieve a callback nor did I recieve any voicemail. Not to mention that I have to pay $16 plus tax everyday I activate my fido to give them a call. I had already ensured that my phone was on ringer, roaming was on, etc.
I tried calling 611 but it says invalid number, they don't have an email address and their live chat option does not work - it keeps saying specialist is not available and takes you back to the contact us page on the fido website. I tried calling all the numbers on their website but they all take me to the same automated message. I have actively tried to get in touch with Fido customer service but I do not see a way. I just want to cancel my plan so that I don't get charged a monthly fee for a phone plan that I do not even use. I even asked my brother who is currently in Canada, to go to a fido store and see if they can help - they told him that I will have to call customer service directly. But even that doesn't work.
I would really appreciate if someone can guide me on how to cancel my phone plan or even how to convert my fido post-paid number to a pre-paid one without having to call their customer service. Would appreciate any help and thank you in advance!

Welcome aryapatel70,
Welcome to the community!
Firstly, you should note these forums are community-driven and not intended as a venue for customer services. We do not have access to customers' accounts nor would we be able to cancel your services. Unfortunately, I don't think there is any way to cancel services through social media. In addition, Fido does not offer customer services via email. As far as I am aware, cancellations can only be done by calling them:
You may cancel any or all of your Services and any corresponding Agreement at any time by calling us...

I do understand the call did not come at the given time. However, those specified selections would not be available through a voicemail. They would have needed to have been pressed after answering the active call.

You should note that Fido no longer offers pre-paid services. If you wished to switch to that type of plan, you would need to port your number to one of those service providers (ie Chatr, Lucky Mobile, SpeakOut, etc). Porting your number to another provider would cancel your Fido services. You would be responsible for any oustanding balances after the services are cancelled. It should also be mentioned that very few pre-paid providers offer a pure pay-as-you-go service. Many offer monthly pre-paid plans. It should be further mentioned that most, if not all, pre-paid offerings have expiring balances require regular top-ups to keep balances.
I understand you have already attempted to call customer service. Unfortunately, they do not offer customer services via email. Regrettably, I am not aware of any other means of cancelling your services without having to call customer service.
Hope this helps 😀
Cheers
