Hey all. I just bought the new US pass.  I am supposed to have access to making phone calls but it is not working.
I have reset provider options

I have reset my network settings

LTE and bars are showing.  But it drops the calls.

My phone is unlocked.

because I cannot make phone calls. I have no way of talking to a Fido agent.
what did I pay $60 for?
it is not safe. I cannot even call 911.

Hello Fdaisy,

Welcome to the community!

Sorry to hear you're having issue making calls in the US. Are you able to use data in the US? Send and/or receive text messages? When your device connected to the networks, did you receive a Welcome to the US text message notification?

What device are you using? I understand your device may be LTE-capable, however, does it support voice-over-LTE (voLTE)? If it does not, you should note that the US mobile providers had decommissioned their '3G' networks in 2022 (see here). If that is the case, you would unfortunately not be able to use that device for calls and/or text messaging as the fall-back '3G' network would no longer be available.

Aside: If your device is not supported for voLTE, you should note that Fido/Rogers intends on decommissioning their '3G' network July 2025. After that time, the device would not work for calls and/or text messaging on the networks either.

You note the calls drop. Do the calls connect at all and then later drop? Or do the calls never connect? Have you attempted to manually select a network provider? It's possible another provider may allow the calls to complete.

I understand you have just purchased the US Travel Pass. To verify, however, what plan-type do you have? You should note that Basic plans do not allow for roaming. That said, I don't think the system would have allowed a non-roaming plan to purchase a Travel Pass.

Had you travelled with Fido Roam before? Could you have previously requested a roaming block on your line?

You should note these forums are community-driven and not intended as a venue for customer services. If you would like to discuss your situation, you would need to contact customer service. Unfortunately, they appear to have removed their customer service via social media options. I understand you are currently outside of Canada. They do provide a number to call From Abroad. I also understand you might not be able to use your device to make calls. I believe customers should also be able to call that number collect from a landline (see here).

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers
