Samsung S25+ bought from Best Buy not showing any VoLTE settings

I have Samsung S25+ (SM-S936W) bought directly from Best Buy store (walk-in).

I am trying to enable VoLTE, but under Settings > Connections > Mobile Networks, the setting is just not there.

I do see LTE+ in the status bar, so I assume the SIM card is LTE-enabled.

I've tried *#*#4636#*#* and *#*#86583#*#* that I found in other posts, but none of those work at all.

So, now what?

Yes, I was able to make calls on LTE. Haven't tried using data at the same time: is that a 100% proof that VoLTE is working?

Interesting finding that newer phones may just not show that settings.

It was very frustrating however when the Fido technical support rep on the phone pretty much told me I have a lemon since I bought it not directly from Fido, and I should go back to the store and get a refund.

Hello again,

Voice-over-LTE or voLTE is just the protocol that allows you to make voice calls over 4G networks instead of 2G or 3G. It is a digital packet voice service delivered over IP via a high-speed internet connection -- LTE access network with voLTE. Voice-over-5G (vo5G) or voice-over-New Radio (voNR) would be similar, however, specific for 5G networks.

So yes, if you can make calls while maintaining a LTE network connection, voLTE is working. Without voLTE, calls would necessarily fall-back to '3G'.

I think a voLTE setting might be redundant these days. Many Countries are considering, or have already, decommissioned their '3G' networks. The US shut-down their WCDMA/UMTS network in 2022. Canada appears to follow suit by end of 2025... I understand some Countries may still rely on their '3G' networks, however, the phones can still fall-back to the circuit-switched system when needed.

Hope this helps 😀

Hello SlavD,

Are you able to make calls on the LTE network, though? I wonder if Samsung decided to enable voLTE on their devices by default now. With newer phones, I'm not sure why there needs to be setting for voLTE. Enabling that setting did not prevent calls from transmitting if a LTE network was not available. In the absence of LTE, on older phones with voLTE enabled, calls could always fall-back to the '3G' network. VoLTE did not need to be disabled on '3G' networks. These days, I cannot see a usage case for requiring that setting.

I understand that may only be my speculation. However, the setting is also not available on my Galaxy S25 series device. Yet, I can make calls while the device is connected to the LTE network. While there does not appear to be any voLTE or HD symbol showing, the connection remained LTE+ during the entire call. As expected, I was also able to use data during the call. That would suggest voLTE is enabled. Is it possible voLTE is enabled by default on your device as well?

I also understand there may be videos or other sources suggesting there might be an actual voLTE setting. However, different versions of the device might vary slightly with their settings. It's possible the Canadian versions do not have that setting. That notion is supported by posts in the Samsung community forum here.

Hope this helps 😀
