I'm just a bit confused with the Promotion credit.

It doesn't say that it's gonna end and it totally cancels out the cost for the monthly device payment. Would this mean that this would be a free upgrade for my current phone? I'm fully expecting that my monthly data plan cost to stay the same tho.

Hello Demyxfoxdale,

Welcome to the community!

You should note that with many of the device offers, Fido does not actually discount the cost of the device. Rather, they provide a monthly credit to off-set the device cost. That monthly credit is applied to the bill and not device financing cost. The device cost shown with your offer was calcuated after bill credit. While you may not end up paying an monthly financing fee for your device, the device is not technically free. You should note that taxes are charged on the full price of the device (see here).

In your case, the original monthly financing fee of $28.50 and bill credit of $28.50 (Payment Program Promotion from your screen capture) calculates to $0 per month.

In addition, it would be important to note that the monthy financing fee does not actually change. If you choose to end the contract early, you would still be required to pay the total remaining balance of the device. That is, the remaining balance would be $28.50 x remaining number of months, not $0 x remaining months as the remaining monthly credits would no longer apply.

You should note the forums are community-driven and not intended as a venue for customer services. We do not have access to customers' accounts nor would we know your monthly plan details. Depending on your current plan, you may need to upgrade your plan in order to finance a device.

Hope this helps 😀

Cheers
