Need to Cancel Account from Abroad – Can’t Call

Fido Team,

 

I’m currently outside of Canada and I need to cancel my mobile service, but I can’t call your support line from abroad. The chatbot doesn’t connect me to a live agent, and your contact form/email no longer work.

 

I would like a moderator to please message me privately so I can share my account details and complete the cancellation request.

Welcome to the community!

 

  Firstly, you should note these forums are community-driven and not intended as a venue for customer services. We do not have access to customers' accounts. I understand you requested a moderator to contact you. While the moderators here used to provide customer service via PM in the forums, unfortunately, I don't believe that is an option anymore. In addition, as far as I am aware, cancellations can only be done by calling them:

 

                 You may cancel any or all of your Services and any corresponding Agreement at any time by calling us...

                             ~taken from Terms of Service; section 2e

 

  If you would like to go over your options, you would need to contact customer service. Unfortunately, they appear to have removed their customer service via social media options. In addition, they also do not provide customer service via email since that mode of communication is inherently insecure. Though, even if those venues were still available, you would likely still need to call customer service to cancel services. I understand you are currently outside of Canada. They do provide a number to call From Abroad. Calling that number from overseas would not incur roaming charges when called from your Fido SIM (see here). Alternatively, customers should also be able to call that number collect from a landline.
