Free international calling to Iran

I wanted to ask if Fido is currently offering or planning to offer free or discounted international calling to Iran, considering the circumstances.

Let’s not kid ourselves — Canadian telecom companies like Fido only care about one thing: squeezing every dollar they can. In times of crisis, when people desperately need to connect with loved ones, they stay silent unless there's profit to be made. Compassion doesn’t exist in their business model — unless it boosts their revenue.

Hello Kamran888,

Welcome to the community!

As mentioned in my previous reply in this thread, we would not know whether Fido is planning to offer any discounted calling and/or messaging to Iran given the current situation. However, I don't think anyone is kidding themselves when they enquired about the possibility. I think many of those who have queried about the discounted calls are looking to history. Contrary to what you note, the Canadian mobile providers (including Fido) have previously waived fees temporarily for communications to areas of conflict (see here, here, and here).

Cheers

Hello Shahab11,

Welcome to the community!

I replied to a similar query here. As mentioned, we would not know whether Fido is planning to offer any discounted calls to Iran given the current situation. If they do, it would likely be mentioned on Fido.ca.

As also mentioned in that post, they do offer a Preferred International Calling rate add-on for the meantime.

Hope this helps ðŸ˜€

Cheers
