First, I have been with Fido for a few years now and never had a problem with Fido previously, or so I thought... but I am now noticing a trend and am getting upset. It has happened to me twice, increasing charges on my plan due to supposed "investments" and "better service".
I just started out with a basic BYOD cheap plan. I didn't need lots of data and just wanted basic talk and text. After awhile they will offer you free or bonus data at your same monthly rate. Hey why not?
Then after a couple months, suddenly they need to increase my montly plan due to and I quote: "We continuously invest in our network to bring you the best mobile experience in Canada. To help support these investments, we will be increasing the monthly fee for your mobile plan (as set out on this invoice beside "Monthly charges" for this wireless line) by $5 (plus taxes)".
Funny, what so called "investments" exactly is Fido referring too? I really would like to know because they no longer will send me a paper bill in the mail, you can no longer chat with a live support person online through their website if you have a question or problem. If you call for support, you have to schedule a call back and can't even talk to someone live when you just called their support line. You can't even send an e-mail for support either. I see less and less investments for customers, with cut corners, and less customer support. In my opinion, that is very very dissapointing. I used to rave to people how great Fido was, but my opinion has now drastically changed.
Be careful and don't fall for the "freebies" Fido offers, cause in the long run, they'll get you to pay somehow!
