Differentiating between MMS data and mobile data

Hello!

Probably a dumb question, but I was curious as to how Fido differentiates between the data used for MMS and the data used for internet/apps?  My plan has unlimited MMS, but only 2gbs of data.  Granted, I'll probably never send 2gbs worth of MMS in a month, but if it were to happen, by chance, does Fido differentiate between the two?

Thanks!

Ron

Hello Scatoman,

  Welcome to the community!

While it's true data needs to be enabled in order to send/receive MMS, the data within the MMS does not count against any data limits. I believe the messaging and internet data are on separate systems, which is also the reason MMS cannot be sent via Wifi.

You should note that when travelling outside of Canada, the data within a MMS does count as roaming data and would therefore trigger the Fido Roam charge or incur roaming data charges (pay-per-use if opted out of Fido Roam).

Hope this helps Smiley

Cheers
