Hi. I would like to change my postpaid number to prepaid as I'm out of the country, I was supposed to return by now but there is some delay in my shifting and I don't want to keep paying bills as I'm not using the no.
I want to keep the same number though as it is linked to my bank account and other portals.
Please advise how I can do this by not physically being in Canada.

Hello Anj94,
Welcome to the community!
Firstly, you should note these forums are community-driven and not intended as a venue for customer services. We do not have access to customers' accounts.
While you might have been able to previously migrate your services between post-paid and pre-paid with Fido, unfortunately, Fido no longer offers pre-paid services (see here). If you wished to switch to pre-paid services, you would need to select a pre-paid provider and have them port your number to their service from Fido. The porting process would require you reply to a port request verification SMS sent to your current phone and provider. Replying to that SMS would likely incur roaming charges as you are currently outside of Canada. The requirement for a verification text from your old provider has been standard operating procedure for a number of years now (see here). The implementation of the port verification text message was to prevent number porting fraud or SIM Swapping (see here).
In addition, you should note that there are very few, if any, remaining purely pay-as-you-go pre-paid providers. Most pre-paid services are monthly pre-paid (or 6-monthly, yearly). That is, most pre-paid providers would require monthly plans rather than pay-per-use services. As such, those services would also likely require regular payments.
Furthermore, you should also note that most, if not all, pre-paid services have expiring balances. That is, regular account top-ups would be required by a specific date (often referred to as anniversary date) in order to extend balance expiry.
Some other people in similar situations have opted for voIP services to keep their phone numbers while abroad. However, most of those services would also require monthly payments. Similar to switching to a pre-paid provider, switching to a voIP provider would also require they port your number to their service.
Given the options, you might also consider switching your current plan to one of Fido's Basic plans. Their most basic plan could cost less monthly than some of the other options.
If you would like to go over your options, you would need to contact customer service. Unfortunately, they do appear to have removed their customer service via social media options. They also do not provide customer service via email since that mode of communication is inherently insecure. I understand you are currently outside of Canada. They do provide a number to call From Abroad. Calling that number from overseas would not incur roaming charges when called from your Fido SIM (see here). Alternatively, customers should also be able to call that number collect from a landline.
Hope this helps 😀
Cheers
