Call control - works for Telus but not Fido - why not??

I have been getting an increasing number of calls during the day all from international numbers. At least 10 over the course of 5 hours. Why can't we have call control like Telus has where the person has to push a number to reach us??

I continue to block every number, and belong to the "do not call" registry, but this is garbage! Why can't we have the extra call control????

Numbers showing up as spam is ridiculous - I don't want to see them at all.

And how can numbers that I have blocked leave voicemail??? I block the numbers for a reason!

So ridiculous, in every way. I've done the call control thing, but honestly it doesn't help.

Thanks.

Hello @janetlk,

I hear your frustration about blocked numbers still leaving voicemails on Fido, especially since Telus’ Call Control seems to work better. The reason blocked numbers can still leave voicemails is that blocking on your phone only stops the call from ringing—it doesn’t block the call at the network level. From the network’s perspective, a blocked call looks like a missed call, so it’s routed to voicemail, which is managed by Fido’s system, not your device.

Fido’s Spam Call Detect (https://www.fido.ca/support/account/spam-call-detect-faqs) helps filter some spam, but it’s less effective than Telus’ Call Control, which requires a key press that robocalls can’t bypass. Unfortunately, Fido doesn’t offer a similar feature or network-level blocking for specific numbers, as it’s technically complex and not feasible on a per-customer basis.
