FEEDBACK THREAD - Fido Home Internet Firmware Trial

Hey Community,

We're currently offering our members an exclusive opportunity to participate in a trial of the new firmware for our Fido Home Internet Wi-Fi Modem (CGN3AMF). For details of this program, please click here.

This thread will be used for your feedback regarding the firmware. We've invited some folks from the Network team to participate in this thread. Your feedback is very valuable and will be used to enhance the firmware before it is released publicly.

Thanks for your continued feedback and support! Smiley

How do I ugrade my firmware for my router. I have the CGN3AMF router. My current firmware is 4.5.8.40T2 but I see in May 2020 at the very least, there was a new firmware update that was eventually supposedly pushed to all users.. 4.5.8.43

Hey @davidp20071

Are you currently enrolled in the Firmware trial?

I see that you've already reach out to us by PM too.  We've replied to your PM and awe can take a closer look at your account. Simply check your inbox and send us a reply, we'll take it from there Smiley

Hi, my CODA 4582 is showing 7.1.1.33 - when was this released? Is this a trial firmware?

Hey @Pualg

Yes it is! 7.1.1.33 is the current trial firmware, it was pushed out in the beginning of September Smiley

I'm a Participant Level 1

I would like to participate in the trial, could you guys help me out?

Sure thing @chendricks63! Sending you a PM now to get you set up Smiley

Ever since the new firmware 7.1.1.32 on CODA 4582U the jitter is around 20-30ms on both 2.4g and 5g wifi. However, on wired connection it's lower at 5ms and below.

Isn’t version 7.1.1.30 suppose to be out now because this link says so?https://communityforums.rogers.com/t5/Internet/FEEDBACK-Rogers-Rocket-Wi-Fi-Modem-Firmware-Trial/m-p...

Good catch @NeonNinja ! The post has been updated - sorry about that!

I'm a Participant Level 2

When do I get the new update 7.1.1.30 for the coda 4582u?

@NeonNinja That version is available to those participating in the trial. It will be available to everyone later on (no ETA). If you'd like, I can see if I can get you on the trial. Let me know. Smiley

I'm a Participant Level 2

Can you get me on the trial?

Sure - I'll send you a PM to get started.

I joined Fido internet at the beginning of the year, and have been experiencing no internet every few weeks. The unit has to be unplugged from the power. I did not have this issue with other provider.

I am wondering what the problem is? Will firmware upgrade fix it?

I have the hiltron coda 4582u running in bridge mode.

Thanks.

Welcome to the Community @jstmle!

There will be a new test build that's expected later this month for the CODA with a list of fixes. When that's available, I'd recommend joining the trial to see if it helps. I'll update this thread as soon as it starts rolling out.

In the meantime, I'd suggest reaching out to our tech support so that they can troubleshoot with you.

Take care.

Hey everyone,

Looking to get some feedback from any CGN3AC users out there.

Please feel free to share your experience since last Tuesday when 4.5.8.43 was rolled out.

Any updates happening for us, who are using CGN3U routers.

Hey @strahman apologies for missing your post.

We do have a new version of code coming down the pipes, 4.5.8.39, which we will begin testing later this month/early next month.

The fixes are mostly back end, but once we have completed our first pass over, we would love to give you an early glimpse and provide any feedback.

Over the next week we will be rolling out the next version of our SDK7 code, 7.1.1.32, to those of you on 7.1.x.x already.

New in this build:

  • Upgrade migration patches and additional checks for instances where settings were lost going from SDK 2 to SDK 7
  • VoIP/SIP improvements
  • GUI login issue fixed - password failed to authenticate
  • 5GHz Wi-Fi improvements
  • My Wi-Fi app login issues fixed - password failed to authenticate
  • My Wi-Fi app functionality improvements

Once you have the code please beat it up and let us know what happens.

My CODA-4582U is currently on version 7.1.1.32. For the past 15-20 days I have been facing an issue with one of my laptops with an Intel 7265 card. I have turned off band steering on the modem to keep 2.4 and 5 Ghz networks seperate. Sometimes the laptop can't see my 5Ghz network.  I have to refresh the available networks list multiple times to get the laptop to see the network and connect to it. My other laptop with intel 7260 connects flawlessly to 5Ghz everytime. Initially I thought this could be a network interference issue becaue I am in a condominium and there are multiple networks around so, I tried changing wireless channel to manual for 5Ghz network. This worked for about a day or so but, the problem again came back. I have tried resetting the modem, updating and downgrading laptop wifi drivers and upating windows to latest version. Nothing has worked. I am positive that the issue is with my modem only because the laptop always picks up other neighbouring 5Ghz networks. Also, I have tested it with my phone's wifi hotspot in 5Ghz mode and it always connects without any issue.

The problem has started some 2 weeks ago only so I am guessing this could be the time when my modem got updated to 7.1.1.32 but I am not 100% sure. Any help in this regard would be appreciated
