Welcome to the Fido technical community,
Here are the steps to upgrade your device to Android 2.2:
1. Preparation before OS upgrade
a) Please install LiquidE USB driver at PC side.
b) Please insert a 1GB micro SD card (or larger size) into LiquidE device.
2. Connect acer LiquidE to PC by USB cable
It should have USB connection icon on the status bar.
3. Mount acer LiquidE on a PC & Download update file
a) Pull down the bar, and there is a “USB connected”. Please press it.
b) Press the “Mount” button.
c) In folder “My Computer”, you can see one “Removable Disk” (It’s “ J: ”
in this case).
d) Unzip the OS image file where downloaded from Acer website. There
are two file (one file and one zip). Copy them into the root folder of the
“Removable Disk” ( J: )
e) Remove the “USB Mass Storage Device” of acer Liquid, and unplug
4. Upgrade your acer Liquid E
a) Make sure the battery capacity is over 30%.
b) Power off phone (long pressing power button then select “Power off”).
c) Press and hold camera and volume down buttons. Then press power
d) The phone will vibrate 3 times quickly.
e) Battery and Call LED will be always on, Mail LED will be flash. It
means that phone is downloading firmware into phone.
f) When OS upgrade is done, phone will reboot automatically then
complete the procedure.
I hope this helps,
Please note that there is currently an issue with Froyo where calls to 311 are incorrectly redirected to 911.
The links the the affected software have therefore been temporarily removed from both Fido.ca and Acer's websites.
They will be put back in place once the corrected Froyo software will be available.
We are working with the manufacturer to provide a software update to fix this issue as soon as possible.
