iPhone X

I was told by customer service that Fido does not plan on carrying the iPhone x because internal research shows that there wouldn't be enough demand. This is a joke right?...

Hey everyone!

It’s official: There will be an opportunity for Fido customers to reserve iPhone X for in-store pick-up starting on Nov. 1. Fido customers will be able to reserve iPhone X through our reservation system and pick their device up in-store when it is ready for collection.

Customers can also purchase the device from one of our partners like Best Buy or Apple.

Our customers expressed strong interest in the device and we’re delighted to now be carrying it Smiley

Question, if you’re off contract can you upgrade to the IPhone X and lock in the current plane that I’m in?

I find it a bit odd that some study showed potential lack of interest for the X. Did they conduct the study on two people?! X offers the biggest changes since any other generation iPhone, to say that it'd lack interest is absurd.

Nevertheless it's good news Fido is on board!

I'll be ordering one for sure.

If I remember correctly with the release of iPhone 7, I was 40th on the Fido reservation system it took nearly weeks for to move up a few spots. I strongly recommend Apple Reservation system folks, that's how I was able to hunt down a 7+ Plus last year.

I wouldn't go that far. it's an ugly phone with an insane price tag that cost ls half as much as the whole phone to fix.  those aren't usually Fido customers.

Hey @kingair

That wouldn't work if you have a BYOP (bring your own phone) plan - it would have to be a plan that can offer a subsidy on the iPhone X.

Hope this helps Smiley

@FidoSamantha what new plans are coming out? I’ve been with fido 17 years. I’ve been off contract for 2 months now. Its interesting how my wife gets a call a few months ago and gets an upgraded phone and plan. I called right before my contract expired and they said that I wasn’t targeted for the loyalty upgrade. Pretty funny that I’m not loyal enough.

I guess you aren't the only one. I've been with Fido for 15 years and apparently I don't have any loyalty plans available to me either. Wonder if there ever comes a point where you're so loyal that companies just figure you will never leave and take you for granted. Maybe they would rather focus their efforts on acquiring new customers. Bad business, in my opinion, as it costs more to acquire than to retain.

Hey @huzzing

Welcome to the community Smiley

Don't hesitate to reach out to us here - we appreciate your loyalty and will be more than happy to go over your options!

If you prefer, we can also send you a PM.

I've already called customer service and gone over my "options", but if you have access to options they didn't, feel free to send me a PM.

thanks

Hey @kingair!

We don't have the information in advance as to when, what and if new plans are coming out.

As for targeted loyalty plans, these are offered based on a customer’s usage over the past 6 months. We can definitely take the time to look into your options but if you're waiting for the iPhone X, then it would be best to check it out when you're about to upgrade.

If you'd still like me to take the time to look into your current options, let me know and I'll send you a PM Smiley

@FidoSamantha Thanks for your responses! Great to see that customer service is alive! I will wait when the details come out for the IPhone X.

@FidoSamantha Any updates for customers that are off plan and looking to upgrade plans/phones?

Thanks

That's a good question @Francisstl

You can find all the information you need on this page.

The store will keep the phone for 3 days upon reception.

You can give them a call and see what can be arranged since you'll be out of the country Smiley

@FidoAlyson thanks for the quick reply!

I’ll call them later today.

I wonder if they’ll see my reservation since it has not yet shipped or anything.

Fingers Crossed

Hey @kingair

Pricing isn't available just yet but if you reserve the phone you'll be able to upgrade in store and get a plan/subsidized phone.

I got position 1 for 64g Space Grey.

Only challenge is I’ll be Out of the country until the 10th. Do you guys think they’ll keep it for me until then?

iPhone x was going to be launched on first nov by Fido. Still I can’t see any pre order option . Please let us know that are u carrying this phone or not ? I wanna prebook the phone and gift someone on 5th nov.

How much stock of the X will Fido have and what kind of plans are you required to sign up for for two years in order to get a subsidy on the phone?

I'm a Participant Level 1

If Fido is not going to offer the iPhone X then I will have to consider leaving Fido. I have been very happy with my fido phones and service for 7 or 8 years now and hate to leave but if I can't pick the phone I want then I can't stay. Sorry Fido!

I will guess fido doesnt care.  They offer cheap plans and dont care what phone you bring to the party.

They arent selling a note 8 either.  They know the majority of thier customers wont spend 800 plus tax on a phone ...subsidized.

Yeah time to change my operator...
