Your device have been modified Software updates are not available on Fido S$

I got Samsung Galaxy S4 phone from Fido 2 year term on which 1 year is already been over and never cared to look in to updating my software but when I recently tried to do it  getting message

Your device have been modified, Software updates are not available

I have not done any modification on my phone and tried doing everything like resetting it on recovery mode, took SD Card out and then update, SIM card out and then update but no luck. Is there any help available on this error? I m stuck on kitkat 4.4.2 and now I see that everyone has 5.01 lollipop

thanks

Hey @mysaurin and welcome to the Community Smiley

Have you tried a full factory reset of your device?

@Community: Anyone else had the same issue?

Hello Mysaurin,

Have you tried to delete the cache partition following going into recovery mode? This sequence seemed to help some people:

  1. Un-mounted the inserted SD card.
  2. Restart the device.
  3. Go to Android recovery mode by pressing the Power + Volume down button.
  4. Select the "Wipe cache partition".
  5. Restart the device after successful wipe.
  6. Continue the normal steps for OTA android update.

Taken from here.

The other option would be to try to update your phone using Kies. You'll have to connect your phone to your computer but it should be able to update that way.

Hope this helps Smiley

Cheers
