Retention department does not exist anymore...

I've been with fido for 100 months and maybe I have to switch to another carrier...I was looking to upgrade my phone and called several times to try to get a good deal on the iphone 6s back in August. The agent told me simply to wait until blackfriday/christmas, so I waited...After at least 30 mins waiting time, today I was officially told because my plan is considered as a smart plan and there will be no discount for the new phone.

The only way they could give the phone credit is for me to swith my old grandfather plan to an insane max plan or I can purchase the phone at the full price and stay on the same plan with no contract or I can simply leave fido to any other companies! It is such a shame that the retention used to be very helpful and put their effort to save the existing customers but right now I do not know if this departement is still out there. All they care about is to grab new customers so that they do not need to give fido dollars and charge more!

Very disappointed...

Hey Kimliu and welcome to the Community!

For the moment, the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus can only be subsidized with a 2 year agreement on a Max plan. Otherwise they'd be full price.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus can be subsidized on Smart plans. Here are the prices of the iPhone 6 & 6 Plus with a 2 year agreement:

iPhone 6 16GB

$269 Max plan

$419 Smart plan

$619 Standard plan

$774 full price

iPhone 6 64GB

$399 Max plan

$549 Smart plan

$749 Standard plan

$905 full price

iPhone 6 Plus 16GB

$399 Max plan

$549 Smart plan

$749 Standard plan

$904 full price

iPhone 6 Plus 64GB

$529 Max plan

$679 Smart plan

$879 Standard plan

$1099 full price

Me too, I found they are not keen to keep longtime customers but rather kicking us out from old plan and force you to accept the price hiking.  The people i was talking to in CSR dept, keep saying the same words without listening to you, if Fido just want to repeat the cold call scripts, then what's the advantage to hire the real human being to do the talk? Quite frustrated, probably it's the time to switch...

Hey there duotrust,

No need to change your plan if you rather keep your current one. These phone models are available full price as well Smiley
