Fido claims its 20th anniversary tour is a cross country tour. Thats a lie. They apparently have time to spend 2 weeks celebrating in Toronto and 2 weeks in Vancouver but don't have a single day or two to stop off in either of the two Praire porvinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan. You know. The two provinces with the largest Aboriginal populations in Canada. You know. Where the Government of Canada opened the first museum outside of Ottawa - its called the Canadian Human Rights Museum. You know. Where the RCMP has their training academy. You know. The heart of Riel country. But Fido has no time to stop. To busy eating cupcakes and no time for anything Aboriginal - no time to celebrate Mb or Sk diversity.
Enjoy your party's in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver. You disgust me with your blatent discrimination. You certainly will not be getting my business when I would be renewing in March.
Hello JimA,
Welcome to the community!
I'm sorry you feel discriminated against. However, I do think your conclusion that the reason for not stopping in Manitoba or Saskatchewan was racially motivated is unfounded. The Fido Tour city destinations are the top 7 most populated cities in Canada, plain and simple. In fact, Edmonton, Vancouver, Toronto, and Calgary make up the top 2 to 5 cities with the most Indigenous people (see here; I apologise if the statistics are little dated).
Your implication might have a little merit if the two Prairie provinces were the only provinces not visited. That is not the case. The Maritime provinces were also not visited. I'll admit, they could have made efforts to visit every Province and Territory. We can only speculate on the motivation to only visit the top 7 populated cities. However, it's rather cynical to imply the reason was prejudice against Aboriginal people.
**edit** Have you considered other possible reasons why Fido might not visit those provinces? As FidoStephane noted, they decided to concentrate on their largest markets. While Fido/Rogers do operate networks in Manitoba and Saskatchewan, the dominant networks in those provinces are MTS and SaskTel, respectively**
Cheers

Excuse me?!?
Did you just imply that I was racist because I posted my comment? I absolutely resent your implication! You know nothing about me (or any of us in this community). Even though it shouldn't make one bit of difference, my skin colour isn't white either. I know what it feels like to be marginalised and discriminated against. However, I learned a long time ago that not everything we disagree with has to do with the colour of our skin.
I'm leaving this conversation before I type something I might regret...
Have a good day!
Cheers
Hi there @JimA
Thank you for your message. With the limited time we have for the tour, we’ve decided to focus on our largest markets, but are running numerous national contests that anyone in Canada can enter. We believe in an inclusive environment that reflects and embraces the diversity of our teams as well as our customers.
