Modem Stats - fluctuation

Hello,

So I've had my internet with fido a few weeks now.. and I have been reading things over at Rogers Community forums about internet.. and according to high level members the modem stats should remain fairly consistent and now jump all over the place.

If you take the stats from yesterday vs today and plot them on a graph Today's stats are all over the place and the plot graph will dip.

There is a big variation for today's plot, and this is just one that I have captured.. it has been happening often.

Though they are within the acceptable range, the dBmV values should be closer together and not have such a variance between each channel in the modem.

Again, majority of this information can be read at rogers community forums by high level techs

I've talked to fido tech support but they brush it off, I had a tech come over my house swapped the modem, told me he would call me over the weekend to find out how it was, but I haven't heard a thing.. he was going to refer it to maintanance but again haven't heard anything..

Hey @Fowiz1

Welcome to the Community!

Thanks for sharing this information with us.

Can you tell me more about how this affects your service on days that the modem stats are inconsistent?

The more info we get, the more help we can provide.

What happens when the stats jump is that the internet start timing out, t3 time out errors start showing up in the modem log, and corresponde with the ping plotter i run and the interent starts timing out.

10 minutes later the stats will go back to what they were.

From what i understand on the cable front of technology that the stats should be as close to possible to 0 but shouldn't jump around like that, unless their is congestion, nod capacitiy issues and or someone no the cable line is causing inteference.

Thanks !

I'll send you the PM so we can look into this further
