LG G3 Wireless Charging

Anyone could successfully connect the Fido LG G3 with wireless charger? The spec. showed it's only for PMA Qi type and not the regular Qi type. Also must used the Quick Circle case.

The specific model of the LG G3 that Fido sells uses a less commom wireless charging technology call PMA, PMA and Qi are entirely seperate things and are not compatiable with each other. much like Blueray and SuperDVD format years back.

What you need is to first buy a wireless charging back for your phone that uses PMA, ensure your purchase is for PMA becuase the Korean LG G3 uses Qi. Then you will need to buy a charging plate that supports PMA, these are most common in Duracell brands.

Are these PMA wireless charging pafs available in Canada or only in the US please? Do fido carry them as accessories?

I purchased a duracell PMA wireless charging pad from Ebay and the LG G3 PMA charging back cover (with NFC) from aliexpress.  Here are my thoughts on the items.

Duracell PMA wireless charing kit: This kit comes with a wireless charging case for Samsung S3 and a 2,500 mAH battery puck for iphones and android phones, and a charging pad.  I wish I didn't spend that much money on it. Right now it sits in the corner of the floor waiting to be thrown into the eco station. It's as useless as a paper weight. May be I can melt the metal charging pad and use it for something. That's all it is good for.

LG G3 PMA Charging cover (plastic): This cover looks and feels the same as the LG G3 except it has support for PMA charging. I swapped out the cover from the back of the phone and replace it with the aftermarket cover. The aftermarket PMA cover has a magnet in it which press on the lithium battery inside the phone. PMA wireless charging works but it is slow as hell.  I ended up putting the original cover on it and stuck with the cord.

As I said in some other post, wireless charging technology is relatively useless and I dont think it is going anywhere.  It is a waste of time to pursuit it as it's return is very low.

Thank you for the feedback. As a LG G3 owner, I was quite curious about the wireless charging but after doing initial research and learning about compatibility issues on here, I have decided to not bother with investing in wireless charging any more. I do appreciate all the info from every body who contributed to this post though, thanks again!

I have a quick circle case with a duracel powermat charger. They work quite well

I bought a QI wireless charging sticker that i sticked on the back cover of my phone instead of the old one also i got the charger pad , both for 10$.

now my phone has nfc and wireless charing . For 10$, i don't get why fido or the canadian market is so cheap and they ask more money for same products as US products.  if i can add that fonctionnality for 10 dollars then it will cost nothing to be built in already. Also no headphones when i opened the box.

Fido charges 50$ for the circle case that doesn't support wireless charging so they are expecting to pay 50$ for a plastic case.

Story made short.

have a nice day

Hi Alexking, are you sure you bought the QI instead of PMA? The popular QI type should not be supported by LG G3!

because it is so misleading this phone, i bought it from fido in thinking that all lg g3 support the wireless charging out of the box so accidently i bought the pma version which doesn't include the wireless charging out fo the box. and i lost some money to buy the QI charging kit

So is it no way to use Qi even replaced the back cover with a Qi ready plate (4 pins)? The PMA is hard coded to the phone hardware and software? How about the original LG Quick Circle case from Fido? It didn't mention whether it got PMA or Qi plate?

Adding a bit more info, the LG Quick Circle case offered by Fido is just a standard case and does not include wireless charging of any kind.

You will not find any 'Official' G3 PMA cases in Canada becuase it is not sold by LG Canada!

Don't dispare, you can find the case you want through ebay, make sure it is a quick circle case + PMA charging when doing your search.

The PMA version are sold only in North America, where as internationally, all other LG G3 uses the Qi standard.

Look on the bright side, at least our Canadian version are 32GB/3GB ram, whereas others get 16GB/2GB ram.

I saw someone used the Powermat for Blackberry 9700 to charge. Anyone tried or can verify whether the Blackberry 9700 Powermat is PMA compatible?

Well, Duracell have the PMA Powermat 1-Device but seems not cheap.

Thanks so much for Wufai's useful information. So i'm looking for the aftermarket PMA Quick Circle case from eBay right now.

Just placed order for the PMA Quick Circle case from eBay. Will buy a Powermat to have a try.

Very disappointing and misleading to see such a decision for few bucks in their pockets, we are unsatisfied and obliged to pay additional 60 dollars for a circle case that we don't like.

When i bought lg g3 from fido i saw it is writen D850 on the back of the phone but in the software it tells me d852 my phone supports pma and not QI after i bought the QI charging kit . also there is an internation version which support QI charging included in the phone but the canadian standards removed this option from the phone as usual they only look how to squeze our pockets to a point they rip us. I will buy my stuff from outside of canada as i started doing already. Very unsatisfied of the way they deal with us. i wasnt crazy about fido but i see their prices and models are becoming annoying special after i pay full price for the phone. Also i need to unlock it with additional 50 dollars such a ripp off.

Yes this situation is very common for the North American carrier.

If you really still want to use the wireless charging for this Fido L3 G3, you can find the solution from the earlier post of this topic. It's less than $50 for the PMA charging mat and the PMA Quick Circle case. All from eBay.

The Fido Quick Circle case didn't suppport any wireless charging. But you can buy and paste the PMA wireless charging sticker for it if you've already bought the case.

Well, if you read this forum topic earlier, you didn't need to waste money and time.

Hey all, another option is to purchase a PMA + NFC Wireless charging sticker chip  and apply it to the inside back of your LG G3 case. It's easy to do; instructions are included. Then just buy a Duracell PMA base charger Then you're golden! Put your phone on the base and it'll charge!

As an add-on, I bought the sticker for $10 online (it was 50% off), and the charging station for about $25, also online. Just do a search on your phone model and you'll find it!

Yes, it's the way if you don't want the Quick Circle case. But the sticker was not cheap comparing to the Quick Circle with PMA charging sticker built-in as i search last time.

For the Powermat, get it from Factory Direct

if you can go to one of their store for only $19.99. No need to care whether it's coming with iPhone case or any case or the battery pack. You need the mat only to work.
