Isn't loyalty a two way street?

I've been a Fido customer who pays on time for 15 years. My agreement is coming up and I called and was offered the same deal as a friend of mine that has been a customer for 2 years. How does that work? 

 

I understand things go up, and phone costs go up, etc etc, but I've heard of plans recently being offered for much less than what I'm paying and they're getting more value. When I call they say "retention" doesn't have any more authority to give deals. What is going on?

We do try to offer as many option as possible to all of our customers! We also offer promotions to new and existing lines Smiley

 

And from time to time, we do have big deals available only for a certain period of time.
