Just got announced today.
Does Fido know if it'll support VoLTE and WiFi calling on Fido yet?
It also uses eSIM. Wonder how that'll work with registration

Are both Pixel 2 and XL 2 come unlocked out of box?
Or I need to pay to get the unlock code?
Hey @frost866!
All Pixel devices are sold unlocked!
Hope this helps, let us know if you have other questions!
Thank a lot Nick, The reason I asked is, I was browsing the fido phone sections and you can there`s a little lock on top left side of each phone. So I dont know about that sign, I thought they might be unlocked to fido.
Thanks anyway for you answer.
I receieved this text message from Fido with this following message:
"Hi, it's Fido: Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL reservations are now on! Be among the first to pocket the Google phone everyone is talking about. Head over to fido.ca/Pixel2 to reserve yours! Make your reservation by Oct. 18 (for Pixel 2) or Nov. 14 (for Pixel 2 XL) and get a Google Home Mini on us (Wi-Fi speaker, value of $79.99). Sweet! Questions? fido.ca/contactus . Reply STOP to opt out of Fido text msgs."
I just made a reservation and have recieved a email confirmation. How do I inquire about getting the Google Home Mini?
Thank you,
I moved your post here @TChung as this thread deals specifically with the Google Pixel 2
I can confirm to everyone that as of today, customers reserving and activating a Google Pixel 2 on a 2 year agreement will be getting the Google Home Mini as part of the promo Google is having
There are 2 possible scenarios:
Pixel 2: We'll contact you when we ship you the Google Home Mini.
Pixel 2 XL: You will get your Google Home Mini with your phone.
Keep in mind the phone must be reserved via Fido.ca in order to qualify for the promo.
Hope this helps!
Only on a 2 year agreement?
Can you confirm this or is it only to sell agreements? The text message I received from Fido just says reserve the Pixel by Oct. 18 or Nov. 14 for XL and get a Google Home Mini.
No mention of 2 year agreement.
If you buy it directly from Google you get the mini for free with no plan commitment
Hmm that's not good
is it possible to sign a 2 year agreement while keeping my current BYOP plan+rate and not get any discount on the phone?
I'm already planning to stick with Fido for at least another 2 years but don't want my current plan or rate to change and don't need discount on a phone
Google is offering the phone for the same price with a Google Home Mini without any commitment
Telus is running the same deal too and doesn't require a 2 year agreement and only a preorder
Hey @Kenjuta
If you plan on taking the phone outright with no discount, you can definitely keep a BYOP plan
and by keeping my BYOP plan I can still sign a 2 year agreement and get a Google Home Mini when I reserve and pick it up?
but then that means I won't be able to get a free Google Home Mini as well then since I can't sign an agreement with my current plan right?
alright that sounds like I can't get the Google Home Mini for free from Fido and I'll just cancel my reservation
Hey everyone!
Just wanted to provide an update as some were wondering about VoLTE and Wi-Fi calling.
I can confirm that Fido supports VoLTE on Google Pixel devices purchased from Fido, and this will also be the case for the Pixel 2. Wi-Fi calling will also be available in an update following the launch.
Hope this helps!
Any new updates on when WiFi calling is coming on the Pixel 2s?
I grabbed the Android 8.1 update and enabled WiFi calling from the menu but I'm not too sure if it's working. I turned on airplane mode and then turn the WiFi back on then I tried calling my number and it went to straight to voicemail
When I click Update Emergency Address in the WiFi calling menu it asked me for my phone number and it send me a verification code which I entered in then it shows me a page saying
Warning
To active Wi-Fi Calling on your iPhone, go to Settings, tap Phone, tap Wi-Fi Calling and toggle ON
Don't think I'm supposed to see that page and WiFi calling is turned on for my Pixel 2 XL
I'm getting the same thing. Also i cant tell if it is actually using WiFi calling. Sometimes there's an HD symbol on the call and other times there isn't
