45$ = Current Plan with my own phone
90$ = Same benefits plan with a new Smartphone
I would have to pay 50$ more per month after taxes.
That is 600$ a year for 2 years totaling to 1200$
Ontop of that I need to pay 299 for the smart phone up front.
That is 1500$ total.
A new apple iPhone 6s costs 900.
Essentially I have to spend 600$ more to redeem my 180 fido dollars which is obviously not worth it what so ever.
I thought, maybe I can get my self a sweet headset or some accessory with my fido dollars? Nope
Perhaps pay part of my bill? Nope
So essentially me staying with fido to be able to use my Fido dollars some day was for nothing, and now they expire on June 6th ...
Am i able to redeem my 180$ fido dollars for a cheap brand new phone which I can then try to resell?

Hey @IcyPhoenix and thank you for using the Community.
To find your options to use your FidoDOLLARS, you can visit the gerneal store here.
You can definitely use your FidoDOLLARS towards one of our available phones.
If you can sell it afterwards, that would be extra money for you
Hope this helps.
I agree with the others here, this is disappointing.
I have around $85 fidodollars and went to the "store", unless you want a phone by June there is nothing! Pointless. I wish you could at least get accessories, cables or something for my phone with the fidodollars.
I am not locked in a contract, and fidodollars was the reason I stay with Fido, as I figured at some point they will be useful. I guess one good thing is now I can start looking at other networks as no real reason to stay put.
I looked at the pulse plans and they are of zero interest to me. I guess Fido is only looking for a small target audience. I just switched my wifes phone to Virgin, way better perks!
Hi @fattymatty,
I'm sad to know you're planning to leave us
FidoDOLLARS can be used in many different ways, you can check it out here: here (point n.8 under FidoREWARDSâ„¢ Program Terms and Conditions)
I understand change is not always easy!
We’re all about connecting you to the things you love. Participation in FidoREWARDS is going down, so we’re phasing it out in order to refocus our efforts on bringing more value with great services like Spotify Premium. We also look forward to adding more new stuff in the future.
We want the services you get to have more immediate and meaningful benefits for you, so we’re trying out different offers.
Also, I'd be more than happy to look into available price plan options with you!
I'll send you a PM shortly
Talk to you soon!

That is the thing
"with a tab 2 year agreement"
As i explained, I need to pay way more money, to use my fido dollars, essentially losing money
Of course here, if you decide to use them on the Iphone 5s that is now in promotion at $0 on a 2 year agreement, the FidoDOLLARS can't be used.
However, you can still use it on a different phone with a higher price.
You would still be saving $188.38 on a new device, from what I see on your screenshot.
I am looking at the 6s
Which is 300$ upfront and I have to up my plan to a max plan which is 50$ more a month than what I pay now. Over 2 years that 50$ a month = 1200$ + the 300$ upfront. Thats 1500$ vs flat out buying the iPhone froom Apple unlocked for 900$.
Even if I spend my 180$ fido dollars, I still end up paying 420 more than if I buy it from apple and keep my bring your own phone plan
I get it.
So changing your plan would not be an option for you.
You mentionned the option for buying the phone full price at Apple.
Would buying the phone full price through Fido using your FidoDOLLARS be a better option for you then?
Are you are really looking to renew your agreement.
Let me know.
I was told the 6s only comes with plans, that its not sold full price alone at fido
I was at a Fido booth today
I want to stay with fido and the agreement I currently have, as the plan suits my needs just fine
Bump.
I am interested in an option of using FidoDollars to buy a phone without a plan.
Please get back to me however makes the most sense. I only just started using this forum. Am I notified on my phone when i get a PM?
^More details to my previous post.Buying a phone outright was mentioned by @FidoSamantha on March 7, 2016 in this thread.
Hey @davidv!
Welcome to the Community!
You should receive an email notification when you receive a PM. I'll go ahead and send you one now so we can check out some options together.
nothing about fido is intriguing anymore. same as rogers. the fido dollars program was the only thing interesting. and now, fido is taking them away.
