Hi,
I have Fido Roam with my plan. Normally when I travel I do not turn on the data roaming. I understand if I place a call or send a text I will still be charged the daily Fido Roam fee. My questions is, if data roaming and data are off and I am only receiving SMS, not replying to SMS, not sending SMS, not placing calls, not answering calls.... will I be charged the daily Fido Roam fee just for receiving an SMS while roaming?
Hello Rob_Fido,
Receiving SMS should not activate Fido Roam. Note, however, the data portion of a MMS (either sent or received) would be considered roaming data and would activate Fido Roam (see here).
**It should also be mentioned that rejecting a call is not the same as not answering a call. The former would forward the call to voicemail (VM) via a foreign network whereas the latter forwards the call to VM via the Fido/Rogers network. Since rejecting a call involves a foreign network, roaming charges would likely apply**
Hope this helps
Cheers
