Sorry to hear you have lost your phone.
In which Province are you located? Device protection does cover loss and theft in some provinces (see here and here). Unfortunately, lost/stolen coverage is not included in Saskatchewan, Québec and Newfoundland (see here and full details in Device Protection link above).
You should note that the lack of loss & theft coverage in those Provinces isn't strictly limited to Fido and is therefore likely related to Provincial regulations.
