Curve 8530. Can I use it with fido

Can I bring an old bb8530 that's unlocked and use it with fido?

Probably, but you should validate the phone's frequencies with this page.

Your device must be compatible with the Fido network, which uses GSM, UMTS, HSPA and HSPA+ at 850 MHz and 1900 MHz. To access LTE network, the phone must be compatible with:

  • 700 MHz on Band 17;
  • 1700/2100 MHz on Band 4;
  • 2600 MHz on Band 7.

Hello Pubpest,

  Welcome to the forums!

  Actually, I do not believe that phone will work with Fido. According to here, the Curve 8530 is a CDMA-based phone. As @zyx noted, Fido/Rogers uses GSM and UMTS(WCDMA) for its 2G and '3G' networks and are not compatible. Unfortunately, CDMA networks are being phased out, if not already completely discontinued.

Hope this helps Smiley

Cheers
