Actually, I do not believe that phone will work with Fido. According to here, the Curve 8530 is a CDMA-based phone. As @zyx noted, Fido/Rogers uses GSM and UMTS(WCDMA) for its 2G and '3G' networks and are not compatible. Unfortunately, CDMA networks are being phased out, if not already completely discontinued.
