Contacts are no longer merged after Android 6.0.1

After my phone (Galaxy S6) upgraded to Android 6.0.1 my contacts list became a complete mess. I've tried unsuccessfully to re-merge my contacts, however I still have multiple entries which seem related to the service/source (Outlook, Exchange Activesync, Skype, Messenger, Google, etcetera) In some cases the same person shows up 4 times in my contacts list.

Is there a way to fix this BUG?

I know several people who are suffering from it, and we're advising friends not to upgrade until it's fixed.

You might have to remove those accounts and readd them and it should sync fine. You can also try clearing the cache partition.
