Hello,
I have a samsung galaxy quattro GT-I8552, and I am unable to get anything faster than edge for downloading data (not really fast, more of a snail's speed), I have tried changing the APN settings as described on fido website. But nothing works..Any ideas, suggestions would be a help.

Doesn't look like that phones 3G frequencies are fully compatible with the Fido network.
Quatro 3G: 900/2100MHz
Fido 3G: 850/1900MHz
I got the info from here:

This is what I read on the web
1900/2100 is one band, 2100 downlink/1900 uplink,
Thanks FidoMatt!
I guess some of the sites that try to sell this phone in Canada are not legit.
If I get a phone from Asia, the below network should work?
Thanks so much for your help!

the 2100 with the 1900 downlink is not used in canada, ours is 1700/2100 instead cus we already use 1900 for another frequency range, so that phone is made for other parts of the world, not canada, sorry but you bot a paper wait
Hi All!
I have the same phone too - Samsung Quattro i8552. However, I cannot make calls nor send text messages. Wi-fi works fine (and I don't use data). I wonder if Saluja can make calls?
And if not, is this problem related to the phone's frequencies as described by "afterthefact" and "Paolo"?
Basically, when I insert the Fido SIM card into the SIM1 slot, the phone just searched for the Fido network and then I received this message: "Not Registered on Network".
Thanks for the help in advance!
very possible afterthefact - I wonder which provider has this frequencies I could use for my phone data, thanks all for your help
