Broken Phone

I am currently in a 2 year contact with fido for my samsung galaxy nexus. Sadly it fell out of my pocket and cracked the screen and the screen doesnt seem to turn on but i can still recieve text messages, but unable to respond because it wont turn on the screen. Anyways, is there way to fix my phone. I have warranty but they said they cant fix it because it is phyical damage. Basically my warranty is useless..Can I upgrade my phone by using my FidoDollars? I really dont want to repair it to any stores because it cost $200. SO can anyone help me out here Sad

Hey kevlekill!

Although this thread is quite old, I'd like to add a little update since I came across it. Fido now provides the possibility to do an upgrade anytime after 90days of services from the time the current contract was taken or when the account was activated. Fido new Policy states that a new contract can be taken only after 90days of services from the current contract or activation by buying out of the existing contract therefore Fido will charge the remaining subsidy of the phone that was under contract to your Fido Account.

The remaining subsidy will not be charge only if there is 30days left for the contract to expire but there will still be a $25 administration hardware upgrading fee. The 6months policy is no longer being practiced by Fido. I suggest you to subscribe to the Fido Device Protection once getting a new Phone so to be able to replace the device if the same were to happen or if the phone were to be lost or stolen.

For more info regarding the replacement fee to get a new Device, click on the link below.

Hope this helps!

Hey kevlekill,

I'm sorry to hear about your phone.

We allow you to renew your agreement and upgrade to a new phone when you are in the last 6 months of your current contract. You can check your agreement dates on fido.ca in your account.

I would suggest contacting customer service by phone, live chat or by email to find out what all of your options are for a replacement phone. Here's the Contact Us page.

Hi! Im having a similar issue. I just got my phone in May 2015 and im still able to receive texts but my screen is not working. Can you please clarify how the replacement fee works? Is this a one time fee we pay to receive a new phone?

If you got your phone from Fido in May 2015 then it should have the 1yr manufature warranty just take it to a Fido store and they can send it off to repair. If you did not get it from Fido then you will need to contact the manufature directly.

Hey s2lt,

You can still have it sent for repair, but there will be a cost. The estimate will be provided in store.
