To help Canadians stay connected to loved ones, we’re temporarily waiving long-distance calls and SMS messages to Iran for Fido customers until October 19.
Any update on our requests for extending the free call to Iran?
Also while I can see that for other countries your long distance fee is very cheap (5$ per month for 1500 minutes call), it seems that for only Iran you increased the international call per minute rate. Before it was 0.2$/minute while now you increased it to 2.75$/minute which I think on your side is to compensate for the two weeks time that you offered the free call to Iran.
Hey @sh00gholami, Alex here.
At the moment, we don't have any plans to extend the free long-distance calls to Iran offer we had during October. We know that some of our customers might still need to contact their loved ones in Iran, the best option in that case will be to get the $5 preferred rate add-on.
Also just to clarify, the 1500 minutes $5 add-on is only for a few specific countries (India, China + Hong Kong (excluding Macau and Taiwan), the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Bangladesh). If you need to call another country, like Iran, the preferred rate add-on remains the best option.
As for our long-distance rates, they increased for all countries on October 18, not just for Iran. For Iran, the base rate increased from $2.50 per minutes to $2.75 per minutes. That being said, you can still call for $0.20 per minutes with the preferred rate add-on.
You can find this add-on here.
What is the rate to call Iran now? Land line and moble numbers
The current rate for calling Iran (either Landline or mobile phone) is of: $2.75/min
Though we recommend to always check here for all long distance calls rates in case they get updated.
