Which sites does the Fido app need to connect to?

I have an iPhone that we are restricting to "allowed websites only".

With Fido.ca allowed, the Fido app won't open, it must need to contact another site, does anyone know which site?

 Thanks,

I have added:

rogers.com

janrainsso.com

I'm able to log in to the app, and access most sections of the app, but can't access the Fido Xtra perks section.

Does anyone know which 3rd party site the app uses for contests and Xtra perks?

Thanks,

Hey @Cm2017! Philippe here. I hope you're doing well. Smiley

Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the app? Clearing the cache may help as well.

Let us know!

Hi,

When I remove restrictions on the iphone, all functions in the app work properly,

as soon as I enable restrictions to "allowed sites only" I can't access the Fido Xtra perks section, so I'm fairly confident that the issue is some site that can't be reached.

I just uninstalled and reinstalled the app, no difference.

I'm not sure how to clear cache on an iPhone, please let me know and I'll try that.

Thanks,

Hey again @Cm2017!

Based on your on your own tests, that appears to be the case. The app does need to communicate to our servers to properly display information. As for clearing the app cache, you should be able to find that here:

  1. Open your iPhone's settings.
  2. Scroll until you see the eligible app, then tap it.
  3. Look for a "Clear cache" option. If the toggle next to it is green, tap it to clear the app's cache.

Let us know if that helps.

There's no option to clear app cache on an iPhone like there is with an android.

It's ok, I don't think I'm going to find the information I was looking for, I'm not going to pursue this any further.

 Thanks again,

Hey @Cm2017

If you would like to know more information about the information collected from the App and in relation to the FidoXtra perks, you can also check out our Privacy Terms for more information. It has a section dedicated to Privacy Policy for Mobile Apps.

I hope this helps clear things up a little.

I installed a firewall and can see the app trying to connect to:

 localytics.com

app-measurement.com

over 100 connection attempts in a minute, how much data is Fido collecting through the app?

Anyways, even with those two sites allowed I can't get the app to open.   Strange.
