Hi there,
I have a monthly plan without data or addon, but still get charged after mistakingly punched the web button on my old phone, $19 for 885KB of data usage, can't even display one single page, truly ridicular. I called to complaint and have been told that I have to request Fido to turn OFF data usage for my number.
Now I also have an active Fido prepaid phone, do I have to call Fido to disable the data usage on this PREPAID phone too? Or there is no such thing as data on prepaid?

If you want to blaock all data access because you are a prepaid subscriber...then I suggest you call up customer service and have them apply data blocks. The reboot your handset.
that's what i did..nver had problem after that....
And if you are really paranoid, if your handset allows , you can go into your handset and access the apns and delete them all. However, if in the future you want internet then you will be back on this forum asking for the apn settings...

Thanks for the quick reply. I just called and have Fido blocked my data access for the prepaid phone.
And yes, the data allowance is unlimited by default, either for prepaid or with a monthly plan. If you mistakingly presse a wrong key on your phone, you get charge $19+taxes!!!
What a rip! Very unhealthy commercial practice!

Also careful when you participate in some contests that required your phone number for SMS. Some third parties charge those so called "Premium SMS" as high as $40 per SMS, and give a share to Fido, so good luck to call Fido to have them cancel those charges or future SMS from those third parties.
I saw this on Protegez-Vous! The only way to cancel those SMS seems to threat Fido to terminate the account!
