Voicemail icon won't go away with 0 voicemails

Have tried the following to get rid of the voicemail icon (looks like an 8 but horizontal):

- called my voicemail from another line, cleared all voicemails

- called my voicemail from my line, cleared all voicemails

- restarted my phone SEVERAL times

- reinstalled the OS TWICE

Any ideas?? It still says I have 1 voicemail!

The funny thing is, Fido's voicemail nodes do NOT support VMI (The sideways 8) icon that you are referring to.

Because they dont send a message to trigger it on, they also dont send a message to trigger it off when your unheard messages are read.  You may have to call in to customer service and/or technical support, and explain this to them.  They may be familiar with the problem and will probaly have the proper tools to clear the VM Waiting icon.   Otherwise, I believe a SIM SWAP may also solve it, but its not the proper way to fix it, because you will then loose your sim contacts and stored SMS msgs.

I have always wanted Fido to use the standard voicemail icon. WHY don't they offer it? This whole SMS notification thing is crazy.

The reason that I believe is because the VMI icon may not function when roaming or abroad on another carrier, however, the SMS will always work. SMS was the preferred VM notification for GSM, the VM icon is an enhancement but is not fully supported or utilized world wide.
