hi, i just got the curve 2 days ago (!), and updated the firmware according to Blackberry Desktop Manager.. guess i shouldn't have cuz now my curve no longer rings at all regardless of which sound profile i'm on (and the sound is on, not muted.. i changed all the vibrate options to ON, and it's supposed to always ring regardless of whether it's in/out of holster...). i've also tried the battery pull several times with no success.
which firmware does fido run, and where can i get the original? once i get the program to download, how do i replace what the Desktop Manager says i should dl with the actual version fido blackberries are running?
thanks a million, and looking forward to not missing anymore calls ![]()

Hi viks.
Does your phone vibrate when someone calls you?
Go to options>sounds and ringtones
You can view my settings HERE
Make sure the volume is up (7 or higher) and that you have a ringtone set (not to an MP3, try a standard ringtone).
Press the Try It button. Does the phone ring and vibrate?
If the phone does ring and vibrate, then we know its working.
Once we know the settings are working, try calling the phone, what happens?
If the phone does not ring or vibrate, then I would guess its a network error and I would call Fido customer support.
If the phone just vibrates, turn off the vibrate. Press the Try It button and make sure it rings. Call the phone. Does it ring?
You can find the latest firmware for Fido branded Blackberry handsets here
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code
The latest Fido version for the Curve is v5.0.0.1385
You can check what version your phone is currently running by going options>about
Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes and what works and what doesn't.

8520 does not ring, RIM told me to call fido, now I've been on hold for 20 minutes. it's not a volume adjustment issue, the phone update messes up the ringtones.

hi! apologies for the late response...
thanks for the tip on the "secret" application test!
i had to downgrade my existing fido bb curve to run version 4.6.1.320 (platform 4.2.0.138) in order to get my phone to ring again.
should i try downloading 5.0.0.900 from https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads/entry.do?code![]()

Hello Viks,
We have identified that OS version 5.0.0 had an issue where ringtones were not play correctly after being selected for custom profiles, which would result in the end user not hearing the phone ringing.
This issue is now resolved in a software maintenance release (5.0.0 bundle 1626).
The link provided below will resolve that issue.
Thank you viks for for the follow up recall.
