Fido Dollars

Can I use my Fido Dollars to buy accessories? I'm hoping to buy a power mat charger with my Fido Dollars.

Currently..fido $$ can only be used to reduce the handset price or purchase certain add-ons...

Re: Fido Dollars

Fido Dollars are accumulated based on your monthly fees and usage.  You get 5% of the eligible fees, before taxes.  The more you use your Fido, the more Fido Dollars you get. Fido Dollars cannot be used to pay your bill or to purchase accessories.
Fido Dollars can be used to :
- Purchase a handset
- Purchase a SIM card
- Add options for a trial period (generally 2 months)
- Add prepaid airtime to your prepaid account
More information is available on our web site :

Re: Fido Dollars

So as I lost my phone on the bus yesterday, I went to a Fido store tonight and I wanted to buy just a SIM card using my Fido $s. The rep said no you cannot do this, I asked him are you sure (since I saw this post earlier) and he said "you cannot redeem Fido Dollars for SIM cards". What's the deal here Fido? I still needed the SIM card so I paid in real $s. Should I return my SIM card to that store or call customer service?

I don't think FidoDollars can be used for buying a SIM Card, just addons and reducing your handset price at signing a new contract. Another question, say I have $70 FidoDollars, can I add Call Display ($7 per month) for 10 months using up all my FidoDollars? Or is the cut off at the "trial period" of 2 months? The restrictions and constraints surrounding FidoDollars is very confusing.

Each month, the Fido Rewards Program enables customers to earn FidoDOLLARSTM that can be used to:
+ Help to upgrade to a new phone for less
+ Pay for the first month or two of an Add-on (available to all monthly plan subscribers with invoice)
+ Purchase prepaid airtime

No mention of SIM Cards, FidoSacha.

Re: Fido Dollars - Not allowing to me to redeem fidoDollars

I have tried for the last few weeks to purchase a $100 prepaid card with my fido dollars without success, as fido.ca was not working. When i called the agent claimed to have transfered the $100 for me .

Unfortunately the money wasnt transferred successfully, so I called again today and was informed it could only be done online at fido.ca However, the site is still giving me the javascript error.

this seems to be a long time for a site to be down.  Could someone confirm if is still not working???

Also, I was told by the agent today the $100 would expire in 30 days if i used my fido dollars?

Re: Fido Dollars - Not allowing to me to redeem fidoDollars

Hello everyone!

@ rockon and nicklopeke: FidoDollars can be used towards SIM cards, but only via customer service. Stores cannot use the FidoDollars towards a SIM card purchase. I hope that this clarifies everything for you. :smileyhappy:

@ kats: No issue has been reported in regards to the use of FidoDollars on our website. If it is not working for you at this time, I would suggest that you try the following:

- Close all navigator windows and open a new one. Then, attempt your login again.
- Clear your browser's temporary files, cookies and cache. Then, attempt your login again.
- If you have another browser, please try again from that other browser.
- Ensure that you are using the latest version of your navigator.
- Please ensure that pop-ups are enabled.

Should it still not be working for you, a representative can have the FidoDollars applied towards your prepaid balance for you. You can reach one of our agents via e-mail through the Contact Us page on Fido.ca or by calling in at 611, options 4 - 4 - 1 from the main menu.

The agent was correct. When using your FidoDollars to buy airtime, you are buying $20 vouchers for the total amount of your choice. $20 vouchers expire after 30 days, no matter how many vouchers you purchase. The only time the expiration date is later is if you purchase a $50 voucher (60 days) or a $100 voucher (1 year) using real money as they are not available with your FidoDollars.

I apiologize for the inconvenience that this is causing you.

Re: Fido Dollars

I am so frustrated with my cell phone provider to the point that I am seriously thinking of looking at other option for cellular providers. I've been with this company for over 10 years. Their service and support used to be so good. They still have some good people working for them but much fewer now than before. Ever since their sister/parent company merged/acquired them, everything is going downhill.

Not much of a phone selection and they boast about their company dollars. Well I have nearly 400 dollars and when I wanted to use it, I got the same answer of restrictions that other posters on here received. Want a high end phone? Besides the iphone 5, they carry no other manufacturers flagship phones. Want the latest Nokia Lumia 920 or Samsung Galaxy Note II etc? Sorry, you need to go elsewhere. hmmmm

Ill wait for the montly bill and depending I might go cancel my contract. this is ridiculous. charging people stuff they dont use and not even making an efford to bring some cool phones in their stores... ksdhgskdgh

oh and the iphone 5 is soooooo overrated. even the 4s... iphones cant do half the things other smartphones can do; so i undertand your frusturation......
