Blackberry.. with a regular plan?

Heyy, I really want a blackberry.:mantongue:

But, i'm on a regular $25 unlimited texting plan.

Can I use a blackberry with just that?

And if I buy an unlocked BB, could I use that?

And is there a way that I can just buy your BB curve?

Hehe, sorry for all the questions.

Hi oscarissu. First off, everyone wants a Blackberry, so good choice.

Now, I could be mistaken but I beleive you have to have a data plan or personal email on Blackberry option with a Blackberry.

You can still have unlimited texting, as the data doesn't include that, but it will have to be worked into your plan.

Unlocked Blackberrys work on Fidos network (I have an unlocked Bold 9700), but certain features such as MMS will not work (please fix this Fido:smileywink:).

Yes you can buy just the Curve, but not through Fido. Fido sells the curve for $30  with a 3 year Fido Agreement and a Personal E-mail on BlackBerry® option or Data add-on

As mentioned though you can buy an unlocked Blackberry and run it on the network.

I hope this answers your questions.

Re: Blackberry.. with a regular plan?

You can use a Blackberry with any plan we offer (other then the iPhone plans which have a bundled iPhone-specific data option)

Using any data features (BBM, email, web) will require a Blackberry data add-on, in addition to your voice plan and features (for example: call display)

Unlocked phones are not supported by Fido, but may be compatible with the network if it supports GSM 850MHz and 1900MHz. Check with the manufacturer for the specifications of the phone you're interested in.

You can buy a phone from Fido at any time, and fell free to ask more questions. Only by asking can you really understand a subject.

Hope this was helpful to you. Take care.

Out of curiosity, you say you can use a Blackberry with any plan you offer. Why then on your website, if I go to buy a Blackberry does it force me to purchase either a data plan or personal email plan? What is the way around this?

If you purchase a Blackberry from Fido you're required to have a Data plan.  This is because it's classified as a smartphone and as such has smartphone features.  It's also due to the fact that it's a $400 phone (through Fido) and they don't want people signing up for a 2-year contract and then canceling right away ($300 cancel fee) and keeping their phone.

If you have a Blackberry that's able to use the Fido network (old Fido BB or unlocked BB) you CAN simply put it on a voice plan.  I did this at the store recently with a customers old Rim BB.  You should know that none of the Blackberry features will work, not even BB Messenger, so it's kind of pointless.  You're better off just getting the $15 Social Networking or E-Mail data plan if you really don't need the internet.  At least you'll have your Messenger or E-Mail functionality.

Hmm thats interesting. If I buy a phone with Fido and sign an agreement and have a plan and a data plan can I cancel it right away?
